Our Culture of Youth and Vitality: How Can I Get My Skin to Agree?

After years of sun exposure and lack of skin protection, most clients suffer from photodamaged skin with wrinkles, sagging, and red and brown discoloration. As we age, static facial wrinkles (present without facial muscle movement) develop due to the loss of skin proteins (collagen, elastin, and fibrin).

Dynamic wrinkles, on the other hand, refer to the wrinkles that form on the skin because of muscle movement. Unfortunately, these can become static wrinkles if the muscles continue to contract in the same way. Treatment of dynamic wrinkles prevents skin etching and development of further static wrinkles.

The Solutions:

Facial Injections: When injected under the skin, these will temporarily paralyze the muscles while smoothing out the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. This will prevent creasing while squinting and frowning and lasts for 3 to 6 months.

Soft Tissue Fillers:  As you age, you typically will lose the rounded and youthful facial appearance due to the loss of some facial tissue/fat which is part of the normal aging process. This may be corrected with fillers (Revenasse, Restylene, Juvéderm).

Energy Based Technology: Laser (Motus AY) removes the effects of photoaging such as static wrinkles, red and brown spots, along with irregular textures.

Skin Care:  Home based programs that often include two or more of the following: facials cleansers, exfoliators, hydrators, nutrient/peptide supplements often provided by a “Cosmeceutical Company” (ZO skin health)

Preparing for Treatment

There are a few things you can do to prepare for your skin ahead of your injections. First, avoid taking aspirin or other blood-thinning medications for two weeks before the injection, as they can increase bruising and bleeding at the injection site. It is also important to clean the injection site thoroughly with soap and water before your appointment. Finally, be sure to follow any instructions from your doctor or provider regarding pre-treatment for your injections.

Your Appointment

We will administer the injections using a very fine needle. The entire process usually takes less than 30 minutes. Afterward, you will be able to leave immediately. If your skin is sensitive, we can apply numbing medication to your face that requires an extra 20 minutes of time.

Is There a Recovery Period Needed Afterward?

There is no recovery period or downtime needed after facial injections. You should always protect your skin against harsh sunlight or extreme heat. In the first 24 hours after your injections, we also recommend avoiding rubbing or massaging the treated area, as this will help prevent the product from migrating to other muscles.

Schedule Your Consultation Today

We often can provide a consultation the same day as an injection. In addition, we take at least three different pre-treatment photos for your permanent Spa record.
